"Merry Christmas one and all!"

This Christmas has been very busy in the BelfryBoy workshop, with 30 loggers ordered in the last month, this has taken up a lot of my time and my stock has dwindled rapidly, so I decided to see if the assembly process could be improved.
The last 15 Mk 2.1 boards with their younger brother Mk 2.3

The main bottleneck has been attaching the USB cable, so this was the obvious place to start, so I have changed the attachment method to use a solderless connector.

I have also found obtaining the FTDI USB to serial chip problematic, so have changed that as well.

One final improvement has been the addition of a small handle to make logger removal easier.

The first boards have arrived and been successfully tested and are now on their way to two lucky weather enthusiasts.

Thanks everyone for your continued patience if you have ordered one, they will be on their way in the next week.

  1. How long ball-park does it take to manufacture and receive a data logger posted to the US? Thanks.

    1. I am now on top of my orders, so manufacture and testing is done overnight, shipping to the US takes about 10 days.

  2. I ordered one of these loggers for use with a Meteobridge running on a TP-LINK TL-MR3020. I believe that the USB port on the TL-MR3020 supports USB 2.0 only. Should I be able to use this logger connected directly to the TL-MR3020 without a USB hub? Does the USB port on the logger supply power? I was wondering if the logger would be able to power the TL-MR3020 (about 1 watt) as well.

    1. Some users have found that the USB hub is not required when using my logger, but YMMV. The logger does not power the TL-MR3020, in fact the it's the opposite way round.

    2. So the logger is powered by the connected USB device and not by the console? Does that mean that it cannot log data records unless it is connected to a USB power source?

    3. I received my logger today and it seems to be working just fine directly connected to my TL-MR3020 Meteobridge (no hub). See it in action at www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KCOGOLDE39

  3. Not quite, the USB interface is powered from the port, the cable also has an integrated logging chip that is powered by the console.

  4. Hi, I am very interested in your clone logger.
I have a question though, is it possible for you to build loggers with more memory than Davis' loggers ?

    1. Even with a larger dataflash chip the console will only write to the first 1M. This is controlled by the console firmware.

  5. Hi, do you have one of these on stock right now? I just replaced my console to find out that my USB logger is not compatible. I would be willing to buy one if you have it ready to ship.

    Thank you

  8. Damien, the clone will work with your Vue, and usually arrives in a couple of days from the UK.
